Our Story

Africa Women in Trade is a social enterprise that was created from the need for African Women in Europe Network under the leadership of the founder and CEO Joy W Machugu-Zenz to support African women and youth SMEs, to inform, create market access, link investors and partners, share skills and form sustainable partnership through the mandates of the AfCFTA Agreement.

Our Vision

Our vision is to create a platform to connect and enable Africa women and youth to trade under AfCFTA.

Our Mission

To create a Network where African women and youth can access information regarding Africa Continental Free Trade Area, provide market access regionally, nationally, and globally, and offer capacity building and access to capital through grants and investments.

Our Pillars

AfCFTA Information
• Share Trade and business information on the networking platforms and social networks such as Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, WhatsApp groups, etc.
• Organising monthly webinars that inform and open solution oriented dialogues 
• Access to policy documents and policy advocacy by engaging relevant authorities 
• Access to multi-sectoral/multi-stakeholder databases
Getting Access to Markets
• Provide a trading platform for members to trade nationally, regionally and globally
• Partner with e-commerce platforms for members to showcase their products 
• Host virtual exhibitions, E- Market webinars and conferences
• Global marketing to allow the diaspora to promote value added products • Host annual continental EXPO, Trade Fairs, Bazaars to link B2B, B2G, B2DP
Access To Finance and Investments
• Linking financial institutions globally to avail and facilitate ease of financial movement of African women and youth businesses when trade
• Partnering with Regional Economic Communities such as COMESA, SADC, EAC, ECOWAS, IGAD, ACAAS, CENSAD and MAGREB for access to funds
• Partnering with the African diaspora to invest in African women & youth businesses and link with global and continental businesswomen networks 
• Linking buyers and distributors to producers 
Capacity Building
• Capacity building through AWT Academy using portfolio of Personal Development Business Plans
• Local and regional institutions such as TVET and others who have mandates for Women and youth programs 
• Partnership with up skilling enabler organisations and incubators for on the job training 
• Establish exporters associations across the continent as a vehicle to create value chains and align for united trade
