β¨ FROM AFRICA’S MINERALS TO BEAUTIFUL AFRICAN JEWELLERY!
Our βWhat Can It Become?β journey continues!
π₯ Week 1: MANGO
π³ Week 2: BAOBAB
π± Week 3: CASSAVA
π Week 4: AFRICA’S MINERALS β COPPER, GOLD AND SILVER!
This week, we are taking our conversation in a different direction!
For years, many of us have seen beautiful beads, necklaces, bracelets and fashion accessories being sold in African markets and shops. Some are locally made, while others are imported.
But have we ever stopped to ask ourselves:
π€ Africa has gold, silver and copper. We have talented women and a rich jewellery-making heritage. So what is stopping more African women from turning these resources into beautiful finished jewellery that can compete in African and global markets?
Africa is blessed with mineral resources, creativity and generations of craftsmanship.
We already have women making beautiful traditional beadwork and ornaments.
But imagine combining those skills with modern jewellery design, metalworking, quality finishing and attractive packaging!
Imagine more African women creating affordable copper and brass earrings, beautiful bracelets, necklaces and premium gold and silver jewellery.
Imagine seeing more MADE IN AFRICA jewellery on shelves across the continent and beyond!
π¬ THIS WEEK, WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!
1οΈβ£ Which African country are you joining us from?
2οΈβ£ What traditional jewellery, beads or ornaments are made in your country?
3οΈβ£ Do you know women who already make jewellery from copper, brass, bronze, silver or gold? Tell us about them!
4οΈβ£ When you visit jewellery shops or markets in your country, are most of the products locally made or imported? Have you seen interesting African-made jewellery brands?
5οΈβ£ If you had the opportunity to learn jewellery design and metalworking, what would YOU create, and which African or international market would you like to sell it in?
π THERE ARE NO WRONG ANSWERS!
Perhaps you are already making jewellery.
Perhaps you sell beads or fashion accessories.
Perhaps you know a talented woman who could create beautiful products but lacks equipment, training, financing or access to markets.
WE WANT TO HEAR YOUR STORY!
Because value addition is not only about agriculture and food processing.
It is also about design, craftsmanship, manufacturing, innovation and transforming African resources into products that customers want to buy.
β¨ SEE β IMAGINE β MAKE β TRADE
Our goal is to help African women see new possibilities, develop practical skills and explore opportunities in African and global markets.
π NOW OVER TO YOU!
Africa has the resources. Africa has the talent. What is stopping us from creating more value?
π Share your country, experiences and ideas in the comments on our Youtube channel.
Your knowledge could inspire another African woman to discover a new business opportunity!
